Ignazio Terrasi – Music Director & Conductor
After concluding his musical studies of composition and music conducting at the Conservatory of Music “Giuseppe Verdi” of Milan, starts a large concerts activity in Milan as conductor of the “Pierluigi da Palestrina” orchestra and the Symphonic Orchestra “Milano Classica”. He acquires a large repertoire going from the baroque period to the ’900 historical and the contemporary period.
In the same years he starts his collaboration as musical assistant to M° James Conlon, at the Operà National de Paris. Since then, many are the experiences as assistant conductor. He works at the Communal Theatre of Florence with the Orchestra of the Musical May of Florence, Milano at theatre “alla Scala” , Rome at “Santa Cecilia Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera of New York and Cincinnati May festival. In occasion of 25° and 26° Festival of the Itria valley in Martina Franca he collaborates as associate conductor of M° David Golub.
In September 2000, he settles in Paris where he is hired as permanent musical assistant at the Opera National de Paris, and where he has the opportunity to work with the most important lyric artists like Renè Fleming, Placido Domingo, Leo Nucci, Angela Gheorghiu, Carol Vannesse, Joseph Van Dam, and Natalie Dessay.
In 2004 he has the opportunity to become the principal conductor of different contemporary opera productions as the interactive opera “Alma Sola” realised in Paris in collaboration of IRCAM – Centre Pompidou with several performances in Paris and Ile-de-France.
From August 2006 he is permanent residence in US and he is the principal music assistant of Maestro James Conlon at the Los Angeles Opera theatre. In 2008, he works on LA Opera production of “The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny” that won the Grammy Award for Best Classical Album and Great Performances.
